Pin A Wedding Dress Train

Determine where to bustle your wedding dress after the ceremony.

Brides often pin or bustle the train of their wedding dress after the ceremony and before the reception begins. Typically, a bride pins up the train on the dress to make it easier to walk and dance throughout the reception. The most common way to bustle the dress is in an overbustle, which pulls the train up and pins it to a higher point on the dress.

Instructions

1. Hang your wedding dress on the hangar. Spread the train out to resemble how it will look when you are wearing it.

2. Identify the center point of the train from left to right and the center point from top to bottom.

3. Push a straight pin through the center point of the train and pick the train up, bringing it to the waist area of the dress. Pin the train to the dress to see how it looks. If the waist area is too high, unpin the dress from the waist and try pinning it to another point on the dress, such as the point where the dress of the skirt ends and the train begins. Since each dress and train are different, continue to move the train around until it is in a position that looks how you want it to look on the day of your wedding.

4. Sew the eye part of the hook on the part of the dress you want to hook the train, and also sew the hook on the train. For longer or fuller trains, you should and may need to attach more than one eye and hook. If this is the case, sew one on each side of the center part of the train, approximately 1 inch apart from each other.

Techniques For Get Waves

There's more than one way to achieve spiral waves without heat damage to hair.

By using a variety of hairstyling techniques, regardless of your hair type, you can choose from having straight hair to having tons of waves. Whether your hair is thin, fine, thick or course, learn create a variety of permanent or semi-permanent waves by using different hair products and hairstyling tools. These products and tools work in tandem with each other to help you create the perfect waves for your hair.

Permanent Wave

Permanent waves are similar to perms, except instead of tight curls, you receive loose waves that come to life when your hair is wet. One way to obtain a permanent wave is to have it done by a professional hair stylist at a hair salon. The hair stylist uses small pieces of tissue and curling rods and wraps small sections of wet hair around these rods. After curling the entire head of hair and putting the rods in place, she places a chemical solution on top of the curlers. You then put your hair under a dryer and wait for the solution and the heat from the curlers to set the waves. Permanent waves provide the right amount of waves for women with thin and medium hair types. When you have thick or coarse hair, your curl definition may be weak, and it may not last as long. Permanent waves are also effective for producing long-lasting waves for women with oily hair. This is because these types of perms often dry out normal hair and cause permanent damage to the hair shaft.

Braiding Techniques

French braids worn for extended periods provide women with an inexpensive way to achieve body and multidimensional waves. Since they are not permanent, you can try different hairstyles as often as you like. All you need is a hairbrush, styling gel or mousse, and a rubber band. Apply a generous amount of mousse to the hair roots and hair tips. French braid hair when it is damp to produce more volume and bigger waves. For smaller waves, loosely braid hair into 3- to 4-inch sections. Set the braids with hairspray and sleep for six to eight hours. When you wake up, remove the rubber band and separate your waves.

Triple Barrel Curling Iron

Different curling iron rods help you achieve different types of curls and waves. A triple-barrel curling iron provides you with larger, softer waves. Instead of using a regular curling iron, which produces traditional curls near the bottom half of the hair shaft, the triple-barrel curling iron has different shaped rods, which curl the entire length of the hair. However, most curling irons use a direct source of heat to set curls, which damages hair. To counteract the use of direct heat, use heat protectant styling products and try using curling irons with ceramic heated plates instead of metal.

Twisty Curling Rods

You can create long-lasting, chunkier waves with twisty hot rollers. These malleable rods are easy to twist and bend different ways. For softer waves, grab 2- to 3-inch thick sections of hair, place the roller vertically and twist the entire section of hair around the entire length of the curling rod. Depending on how well your hair curls, you can leave your hair in smaller, fragmented waves or run your fingers throughout your hair to achieve softer, more separated waves.

Style A Wig For Halloween

Know what you want your Halloween wig to look like before you start.

Styling a wig for a Halloween costume depends on what costume you're going to wear. Be sure to keep a picture nearby of what you want your Halloween wig to look like when you're finished styling it. And make certain you use the right products and brushes to get the look you want -- otherwise you could damage the wig.

Instructions

Styling a Halloween Wig

1. Place your wig on a stand for styling. Examine the picture of how you want your wig to look.

2. Comb out your wig. If you're combing a straight wig, start at the bottom of the hair with a wire brush or comb and work your way to the roots. This will keep you from damaging the wig. If you are combing a curly wig, use a plastic pick and begin to pick from the ends to the roots.

3. Use wig mousse for changing the style of the wig. Never use products with alcohol on wigs. Let the mousse air dry before you continue to style. Mousse helps your wig hold interesting, creative styles.

4. Roll the wig with hot rollers on a medium setting if you want to make round curls. Let the hot rollers cool completely before you take them out. Using the plastic pick, style the curls as you would your own hair. The wig mousse will keep the hold.

5. Tease the wig if you want bigger hair. Use a wire comb and pull out a bunch of hair. Run the comb backward through the roots of the wig until it looks tangled. You can leave it like that for a wild look -- or to make the wig bigger, you can comb down over the tease. Use the wire brush and gently comb the top of the hair over the tease until it looks big and smooth.

6. Add pigtails, barrettes or other hair decor on your wig as a final step if your costume calls for them.

Coloring Your Halloween Wig

7. Color your wig with normal hair dye that you can buy at the store.

8. Put your wig on a wig stand and apply dye with a wire comb. For highlights or streaks, comb the dye in the areas where you want the highlights. If you'd like bolder colors, mix acrylic paint with water until you have the shade you want. You can comb this mixture into your wig for deep, rich color.

9. Follow the directions on your dye package -- and for acrylics, let sit for 20 minutes.

10. Wash your wig with conditioning shampoo to get the dye out. Let it air dry to prevent damage.

Emmy Hairstyles

Emmy Hairstyles

Celebrities are known for the hottest trends on the red carpet, as well as some of the biggest fashion disasters. The night of the Emmys, all eyes turn to the red carpet to see the dresses, the jewelry, the shoes, and, of course, the hair. There always are a few breathtaking styles that stand apart from all of the rest, are talked about for weeks, and set new trends for the women of the world.

Nape Knot

The nape knot is when you pull your hair into a knot or bun at the base of your neck. There are many different variations of this style. Some celebrities tend to take a more casual approach, with strands of hair falling in front of their face in curls or loose waves. Others pull their hair securely back from their face, adding a little height at the crown of their head. The actual knot varies as well. Sometimes, they are neater, pinned into loops or swirled around and pinned securely. Other times, they are loose, with pieces sticking out haphazardly in a messy style.

Loose Up-do

It seems the most successful up-dos are the soft, pretty ones that don't look too severe. If your up-do is too tight and flat, it will look too stuffy and boring for a formal, fun evening. Some celebrities opt for pulling their hair back in a loose twist or bun, allowing tendrils of hair to escape and frame their face. Others pull their hair haphazardly in the back with bobby pins, curling the loose pieces into spirals. This is a style made popular by Eva Longoria on the red carpet in 2007.

Flowing Waves

Soft, flowing waves are always a pretty Emmy hairstyle. With the right gown, this style can translate into a breathtaking look that is sure to turn heads. The key to this style is to make sure your curls or waves look soft, so it's important not to stiffen them with too much hairspray. Accessories are a great addition to this Emmy hairstyle. Wear a crystal or beaded headband, or pull a strand of hair away from your face with a pretty pin or barrette to complete the look.

Ponytails

The dressed up ponytail has become a hot red carpet look that has been seen all over the red carpet for years. Celebrities simply pull up their hair into a classic ponytail. Some choose to make the ponytail one unified curl; others keep it sleek and straight. You'll also notice some celebrities add lift to the top or back of their hair by teasing the hair at the crown of their head. Side ponytails were also common at the 2008 Emmys. Side ponytails vary from tightly curled or wavy to straight. Some celebrities pull their hair into an actual ponytail over one shoulder, while others use pins to naturally push the hair over the shoulder.

Tiny Braids

Another Emmy hairstyle that has become increasingly popular on the red carpet is the braid. This is another style that was seen often at the 2008 Emmys. Celebrities are adding braids to their traditional Emmy hairstyles to give it a creative quality. Common braid styles are a few small, thin braids weaved into a style, made popular by Lauren Conrad; French braided bangs tucked to the side and hidden under the rest of the hair, made popular by Jennifer Aniston; and braided "headbands," popularized by Sienna Miller.

A partial updo is a popular hairstyle for brides.

Photos from your wedding day are some of the most important ones that you will take in your life, as they will be viewed for years to come. wear your hair on the big day is an important decision. An updo is a popular hairstyle with many brides because it looks elegant. Depending on your preference, there are several updos you might like.

French Twist

An elegant updo has several variations, but the basic technique is that the hair is gathered toward the back and formed into a French twist. The French twist can be on the back of your head or to the side. The ends of the hair can be curled and pinned securely underneath the end of the French twist or you can let the curls cascade over the twist for a more casual look. Hair should be medium to long for this hair style. Many brides wear a headpiece around the French twist to add glamor to this look.

Partial Updo

The rest of your hair can drape down your back. Use a curling iron to create spiral ringlets, loose waves or voluminous curls. Allow the curls to cascade around your ears and toward your face.

Curly Updo

Each curl is pinned in place around the pony tail holder with tiny bobby pins so they are not easily seen. Use Ginger As A Blood Thinner

Use Ginger as a Blood Thinner

Ginger is frequently used as an all-natural blood thinner to help prevent heart attacks, strokes and other heart-related conditions. Gingerol is a chemical that naturally occurs in ginger and has been shown to prevent blood cells and platelets from clotting and clumping. Ginger has also been proven to prevent cholesterol production in the liver.

Instructions

1. Talk to your doctor about using ginger as a blood thinner. If your doctor agrees that taking ginger would be beneficial for you, he may recommend an appropriate dosage of a ginger herbal supplement and suggest that you stop taking any other blood-thinning medication.

2. Go to your local pharmacy or health-food store to purchase a ginger herbal supplement. Ask the people who work in the store for recommendations on the best brands.

3. Check the label of the ginger herbal supplement you purchase to be sure that it is made from organic ingredients with no additional chemicals or substitutes added. Gingerol is the only chemical that needs to be present in the herbal supplement for it to be effective as a blood thinner.

4. Watch for negative side effects that you may experience after you start to use a ginger herbal supplement. Some people experience heartburn, excessive gas and nausea after taking large doses of ginger. You may decide to discontinue use of ginger if these symptoms become too difficult to manage.

5. Eat foods that include ginger and drink ginger ale. Though taking an herbal supplement works for some people, others choose to take a more relaxed approach by simply adding ginger to their diets.

Hair Scarf Wrapping Techniques

Picture taken by Mickael Casol

It can be a memorable sight: a woman with a beautifully wrapped scarf on her head. It looks stylish and is a great solution to a bad hair day. It accentuates the eyes and face--and maybe best of all, it's not difficult to make this look work.

Find the Right Length

Consider different lengths and their effects. If, say, you're trying to re-create a wraparound look, use a much longer scarf than a simple handkerchief. After all, the scarf has to be long enough to actually wrap around your head.

Find the Right Style

Pore through some pictures or images; the ones here might be a good starting point. The important point is to make sure the style suits you. Don't just pick it because it looks good on the model.

Take Your Time!

Once you've found your scarf, make sure you follow directions. If you don't get the wrap right the first time, don't freak out--there's no rush. Take your time, go over the directions again, and try it until you get it. If you can find online videos or tutorials (see References below) on hair wrapping, that will help a lot. If not, have a friend work with you.

Conclusion

Know that wrapping your hair with a scarf often looks much more complicated than it is. Hair wrapping techniques are pretty much common sense. Following these tips and tricks will help you find a style and a scarf that works for you--and will have your friends asking how it's done.
