Do [Curly] Kinky Twists

Use either sponge curlers or rod curlers.

Curly kinky twists are touted as being a "protective style" by many women who are transitioning from chemical relaxers to a natural look. Kinky twists involve braiding kinky extensions into your hair and twisting. The twists are set in curls, producing an alluring look with a head full of bouncy curls. While you may be able to put the extensions in the front, top and sides, you will need someone to do the back of your head for you. This is a time-consuming hairstyle, but the results are worth the effort.

Instructions

1. Section the hair into four sections and secure three of the sections with large hair clips.

2. Use a rattail comb to map out a section of hair 1-inch long by 1/2-inch wide. Clip this section off to one side. Secure the rest of the hair against the scalp with a large clip. Take the clip off the small section you will work with first.

3. Apply a small amount of lock-and-hold hair gel down the length of the section of hair. Use a dab about the size of a pea.

4. Place the middle of one kinky extension against the scalp above the section of hair and clip it in place. The real hair is in the middle with the extension hanging down on each side.

5. Begin braiding the section by crossing the right extension over the middle hair, which makes the right extension the middle strand. Cross the left extension over the middle strand, making it the middle strand. Bring the right strand over the middle strand; bring the left strand over the middle strand.

6. Dissect the middle section of hair into two sections, grouping them with the other two sections on either side. You now have two sections of hair instead of three.

7. Twist the two sections of hair together, twisting them tightly all the way down to the bottom. The lock-and-hold gel will keep them together.

8. Place a foam or rod curler at the end of the section of hair and roll it halfway up to the scalp. Secure it in place with the band that is attached.

9. Bring a cup of water to a boil on a stove in a small saucepan. Pour the boiling water into a cup. Place the curler into the cup of hot water and hold it there for two minutes. Remove the curler and squeeze it dry with a towel.

10. Repeat the steps for all the sections of hair and wait 10 minutes. Remove the curlers. Do not brush or pick out the curls but allow each curl to hang individually.

Beaded Hairstyles

Beaded hairstyles are intricate and time-consuming. They are also beautiful and eye-catching. If you can braid, you can do a beaded hairstyle. There are many different types of braids, and just as many types of beads to choose from. As a result, there is an endless number of ways to create these styles. You can easily find one that will work for you.

Types of Braids

Just about any braid will work for beaded hairstyles. The simplest is individual braids. Part off sections of the hair and braid them individually. French braids are a bit more complicated; for a basic one, comb hair straight back and braid it from crown to nape, picking up hair as you go. You can also part the hair in the middle and French braid the hair on either side. Cornrows are very small French braids. To do these, part the hair into small rows of maybe an inch or so, then French braid them. Cornrows and French braids can be braided into various directions and shapes. Try a spiral French braid or cornows for a twist on a classic look. Or simply braid the cornrows from ear to ear instead of from crown to nape.

Types of Beads

Beads come in all shapes, sizes and colors. There are glass beads, wood beads, clay beads and plastic beads. You can also make these beads by hand. Try making paper or cloth beads for a unique look. You can find kits to make your own glass or wood beads, or you can buy them and decorate them yourself for a special look as well. Remember that sizing is important; thick braids can fit through large holes. On the other hand, try not to make your beads too big, or they will be uncomfortable to sleep on. Clay beads may be more fragile than plastic or wood beads. This is something to keep in mind as you decide on what to choose for your hairstyles.

Putting It All Together

Combining braids with beads is an art form, with you as the ultimate artist. The easiest beaded hairstyle is with individual braids. Simply part off inch-wide sections of hair and braid them as you would a regular braided pigtail. Add beads to the end and fasten them with an elastic or small pieces of foil, and the hairstyle is done. According to hubpages.com, you can also do this style with synthetic hair, which makes taking it down much easier. This is a good style for little girls, because it's stylish and long-lasting. According to the Learning Center at cornrows.co.uk, for a fancier style, divide the hair in half from ear to ear. Braid the hair from the hairline to the crown in cornrows, switching to individual braids, and then do the same from nape to crown. Add beads to each indvidual braid and gather them into a ponytail. This style, without the beads and ponytail, is called the Tiara.

Assemble The Conair Hc241w

The Conair HC241W is a model of beard, mustache and hair trimmer that is part of the HC240 line of products. This line of grooming products allows you to assemble the trimmer for multiple purposes, including trimming facial hair or as part of a hair cut. By using interchangeable blades that you can detach and reattach, this product allows you to do many things.

Instructions

1. Unplug the Conair trimmer from the wall outlet before beginning to disassemble or reassemble it. If this tool is plugged in, you run the risk of electrical shock by removing components.

2. Use a cloth or a towel to clean off any parts before removing them. Leaving hair or other foreign items inside of an attachment can cause the attachment to degrade over time, so keep everything as clean as possible.

3. Remove the current attachment if there is one installed on the trimmer. To do this, place your thumb below the tab at the back end of the attachment and your index finger on the top part of the attachment. Gently pull up, and the attachment will detach from the clipper. Push forward to slide the attachment off and place it in the storage case. The trimmer blade will now be exposed, so be careful not to touch it -- it is sharp.

4. Pick up the new attachment you want to add to the trimmer. To assemble the trimmer for use, slide the new attachment straight over the exposed blade and press forward until it clicks into place, indicating it is secure. Grab the attachment with your fingers and attempt to wiggle it side to side. If there is no movement, the trimmer has been assembled successfully and is ready to use.

Hairstyles For A Luau

Choosing the right hairstyle for a luau may be harder than you think. Sure, you have the option to wear your hair the same way you normally do, but there's no fun in that. You want to go with the theme of the party. Some factors to consider when choosing your hairstyle and hair accessories are where the luau will take place (indoor or outdoors), the formality of the event (casual or formal), the time of the event (morning, noon or evening) and the activities at the luau (limbo contest, water fights and others).

Wet and Wavy Hairstyle

Wet hair

If you want to go with the beach-style theme, a casual wet hair look is hairstyle you may consider, especially if you plan to get in the water at the luau. The wet look is just that, wet. You simply wash your hair without blowing it dry. Add some moose, shower hair gel or hair conditioner after washing your hair for the wavy look. Now, everyone may not have the type of hair that refrains from fizzing up after air-drying. Hair stores and boutiques sell wet and wavy hair extensions you may have sewn in, giving you the wet and wavy look you desire for the luau. The idea of this hairstyle is to symbolize the waves on the beach, sea or ocean.

Up-Dos

Up-dos

The classic ponytail or French twists are good hairstyles to wear to a luau celebration, especially since the event typically takes place in hot months. The plus with the classic ponytail hairstyle is the simplicity. Simply pull your hair toward back or top of your head (whichever look you're going for) with any type of hair tie. You have the option to use hair ties that match your outfit, or simply take a strand of your hair and wrap it around the tie to hide the hair accessory all together. The French twist is a ponytail with a twist. Simply place your hair into a neat ponytail, and twist your hair around several times, and tuck the end of the ponytail underneath the twist. Leave some strands out if you are going for the messy look.

Straight Hair

Flowers in hair

Wearing your hair straight is a classic look to wear at a luau. Simply flat iron or blow your hair straight. Add a part down the middle of your hair, push all your hair to one side or pull half of your hair up into a ball and leave the back hanging down. To make this hairstyle more beach-like, accessorize. Use bobby hair pins to pin some beach flowers (real or plastic) in your hair that match your outfit or the color theme of luau. Another option is brush all your hair back, and place a tropical headband (some party stores have headbands made of tropical beads or leis) over your hair.

Signs Of A Jealous Friend

A jealous person is not somebody you would want as a friend.

Jealousy can destroy good long-term friendships and is not always obvious as it can be expressed in different ways. Most people have experienced the jealousy of others in their lives, particularly as children and teenagers although, there are those who practice jealous reactionary behavior as adults, spoiling friendships and poisoning others with willful, untrue statements. There are certain signs which will indicate to you that a friend is jealous.

Good News Response

Success is a wonderful experience, whether it is getting into that university you applied for or finding a new partner after being single for some time, and it is natural to want to share your success with your friends. A well adjusted adult should be happy for your success and respond accordingly with joy, but an unexpected response from a close friend usually means there is jealousy in the air. Jealous friends typically respond awkwardly to your good news, fob it off as ordinary and change the subject. A negative good news response is a sure sign of jealousy.

Avoidance

You may notice that some friends seem to avoid you when you are doing well. This is a classic jealous response when the other person feels bad about his own life and ignores or avoids successful people as a counteractive measure. If you notice a friend avoiding you when you get a new boyfriend or make a new best friend, this is usually a sign of jealousy resentment. Instead of being happy for you and sticking around to enjoy your new friendship, your friend avoids eye contact and makes excuses that he is too busy to get together.

Insincerity

Insincerity is a reactionary response that jealous people are often guilty of. They may dishonestly invent a make believe success of their own to make yours look less impressive or tell others untruths about you. Insincere behavior is not healthy, especially when it stems from jealousy and can destroy friendships. It is best to ignore this behavior, showing your friend that you disapprove of her insincerity.

Sabotage

Friends that sabotage another person's life are indeed suffering from psychological jealousy at a deeper level. Favoritism from a parent, teacher or another friend can lead to a jealous sabotage of your reputation by making a fool out of you in public or by deliberately doing or saying something malicious. Deliberately defacing another person's property is serious negative behavior that should not be overlooked.

Competitive Behavior

Although imitation can be a form of flattery, it is also a known jealousy response when a person is not happy with their own predicament. If your friend is always trying to upstage you by getting a better car, a flashier phone and over dressing make you look ordinary, this is a sign of jealousy. Jealous competitive behavior is a negative response designed to make you look less attractive to others and any friend that uses these tactics around you is not a true friend.

Set Your Hair Without Rollers

There are many methods of setting your hair, and many cons that come with those methods. For instance, setting your hair with a curling iron is a quick way to get your hair curled, but this method can damage your hair. Another method you can use to set your hair is to "perm" it (which is short for permanent, and which means you're stuck with that hairstyle for many months whether you like it or not). Heated rollers are yet another way to set your hair, but this method can damage your tendrils too. There’s always plain old rollers, but they look more hideous on your head than off. So what’s left? The steps below will tell you set your hair in a way that looks good enough to wear to a wedding before you even brush it out.

Instructions

1. Wash your hair and let it dry.

2. Bend forward from the waist and throw your hair forward, combing it and gathering all of it together to make a ponytail on top of your head.

3. Secure your hair in a ponytail with the scrunchie.

4. Take the amount of hair you would wind around a roller (if you were using rollers to set your hair), and wind it around your two index fingers, which should be positioned about ½ inch away from each other horizontally, until you have no more of the strand of hair left to wind. You should have a rolled section of hair at this point.

5. Secure the roll of hair in place with two of the long bobby pins, sliding one bobby pin into the bottom of the roll from the front to the back, and the other bobby pin from the back of the roll to the front.

6. Take another section of hair and repeat Steps 4 and 5, placing the second roll of hair next the first one.

7. Continue to set your hair in this manner until all sections of hair are rolled and secured neatly in place around the scrungy.

8. Brush your hair out after five hours or more.

Shag Hairstyle Cutting Directions

A shag haircut can look wild and fun when cut and styled right.

Cutting your hair into a shag haircut is easy. All you need are some scissors, a feathering blade, a ponytail holder and the courage to wear the look.

Position

To begin the shag haircut, you must position the head properly. Flip the head upside-down with the hair hanging toward the ground.

Preparation

While the head is upside down, gather the hair into a ponytail. The ponytail should be about four or five inches from the scalp.

Cutting

Cut the ponytail off, still keeping the scissors four to five inches from the scalp. Remove the rubber band and shake the hair out.

Result

You or your subject should have a shaggy, stylish cut as a result. You can even the hair out on both sides if you want the look to be more symmetrical. Cut off any additional hair that you want to remove. For an even shaggier look, use a blade to feather the hair.

Styling

To style a shag look, apply mousse to the tips of the hair and comb through it until the hair gains volume and energy. Use root-lifting gel to keep the style from drooping too much.
