Instant Moisturizer can add shine and moisture to your dreadlocks.
Care Free Curl is a well-known African American haircare product line made by Soft Sheen Carson. The line includes instant moisturizers and instant curl activators. Though these products are designed for curly hair and not for individuals with locs, the instant moisturizer can be useful for adding moisture to your locs without creating a wet or greasy look.
Instructions
1. Wash your hair before putting any products in it. With locs, products can easily build up and form a caked or flaky appearance. Towel dry your hair.
2. Pour a nickel-sized amount of the Care Free Curl Instant Moisturizer into your palm. Rub your hands together to evenly spread it onto both hands.
3. Rub three to four locs between your palms, to distribute the moisturizer. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 until you have covered your entire head with the product.
4. Reapply the moisturizer as needed.

The Westie hair coat requires regular brushing and clipping.
The West Highland White Terrier, commonly referred to as a Westie, is a small, white dog that has a wiry, dense hair coat. Unchecked, this wiry coat can grow long and shaggy, jetting out in different directions from the dog's body. To avoid matting and shedding, owners often choose to groom the dog using clippers, cutting the hair to various, more convenient lengths. Haircuts for Westies not only facilitate easy coat care but help to keep the dog cooler and prevent long hair from blocking and irritating the eyes.
The West Pet Trim
Known as the "Westie Haircut," this cut is designed specifically for this breed. The cut crops the hair close to the body on the back and shoulders while leaving it slightly longer around the head, legs and ears. Hair also will be left long on the stomach and body but cut to a clean, universal length. The Westie haircut provides the characteristic fluffy, round-faced look that is associated with the breed. This cut is known as the "Pet Trim" because it is used for Westies that are not competing in dog shows.
Westie Show Cut
Westies that compete in dog shows must be "hand stripped," meaning their hair is not cut with clippers but is pulled out, in small batches, by hand. Hand stripping the Westie coat allows the hair to come in with its natural, coarse appearance and enhances growth in one direction. Hand stripping can be both tedious and time consuming, hence its use only in competition dogs.
Haircuts for Westies at Home
Westie owners can complete at-home hair cuts by purchasing a set of professional dog clippers. Always grooming in the direction of hair growth with sharp, clean blades, owners can ensure a haircut that fits the specifications of the desired shape and length. Owners should use scissors only to trim hair around the face and feet, never to remove mats as this may cut the dog's skin. Use caution to avoid injury to the Westie's skin and eyes when performing at-home haircuts.
Groomers
Using a professional groomer gives owners the opportunity to specify a cut. By using different clipper blades, groomers can produce a very short, shorn appearance or a "Puppy Cut," a softer, medium-length look. Discuss what works best for the specific Westie being groomed, identifying a haircut that establishes a comfortable level of maintenance.

With the wide availability of home hair relaxer kits, you can easily relax or touch-up your hair at home. You may want to do this to save yourself time and money. Following the directions when relaxing hair at home is important so that you don't damage or break your hair in the process.
Preparation
Before you apply any chemicals to your hair, have all the necessary tools on hand. You'll need a relaxer kit (which should contain hand-protecting gloves), an old towel, a wide-tooth comb, plastic hair clips and a timer or clock. If you purchase a relaxer that's not in a prepackaged kit, make sure you also have neutralizing shampoo and a moisturizing conditioner.
Relaxing the back of your hair may be too difficult for you to try alone; have a friend or family member assist you with this area if needed.
Relax Hair
The process for relaxing virgin hair (or hair that's never been relaxed before) is slightly different from relaxing new growth hair. Begin by separating hair into four sections with the comb, using clips to hold hair out of the way. Start the timer or look at your clock, noting the time. Start at the back of the head and work with sections about 1 inch thick. Apply the relaxer as close to the roots as possible without getting it on the scalp. For virgin hair only, smooth the relaxer all the way to the ends of the hair--you'll repeat this over the entire head. For hair that has been previously relaxed, only apply the relaxer to new growth. Because you should wait about eight weeks between relaxer touch-ups, you should have about 1 inch of new growth to straighten.
Work quickly to apply the relaxer over the entire head or the entire touch-up area. Once the relaxer is in place, smooth with your glove covered hands to completely straighten the hair. Be careful not to get any relaxer on your scalp or skin. If you feel a burning sensation, even if the processing time isn't up yet, you should rinse the relaxer out of your hair. Otherwise, when the recommended time period is up, it's time to rinse the relaxer out.
After Relaxing
Rinse the relaxer out of your hair with warm water, making sure all traces of it are removed. Next, cleanse your hair with neutralizing shampoo. It's important to use a neutralizing shampoo because regular shampoo will not stop the relaxer process. Shampoo two to three times and then follow with a moisturizing conditioner, dry and style.

Blonde hair comes in several different tones from platinum to strawberry blonde.
Blonde hair is characterized by low levels of dark pigmentation, producing a fair-haired lighter color, typically with an underlying yellow hue. Natural blonde hair tends to darken with age, typically ending up at a light brown color when it is through changing colors. It is not uncommon for natural blondes to lighten their hair to keep its lighter appearance. Blonde is a commonly sought color; many women dye their hair blonde from a darker tone. Blonde hair can be styled in any fashion, but when done up for a formal style, the look is typically slightly wispy to accentuate the lighter tones.
Short Curls
Short curls create a vintage hairstyle reminiscent of those worn by the famous Marilyn Monroe. To achieve this look, trim the hair in a layered short haircut, ending at the nape of the neck. The hair will be put into tight curls using a 1-inch curling iron. To hold the curls in place, spray the hair with a firm-hold hairspray immediately after removing the curling iron. The style can be made slightly less formal by making the curls looser so that the style is more relaxed and wispy.
Loose Curls
Loose, high curls work well for medium-length blonde hair. To create this style, flip your head upside down so that your hair hangs forward. Smooth the hair into a ponytail atop your head and fasten it with a hair clip. When you flip your hair back over, it should be piled on top of your head. Small strands might hang down in the back; simply secure these with blonde-toned bobby pins. Using a 1-inch curling iron, curl the hair that is piled atop your head in small sections until you are left with a loose pile of curled hair. To dress up this look, decorative jeweled hair clips can be attached to curled sections of the hair.
Bun with Bangs
A bun with bangs creates a fun and formal updo for blonde hair; to achieve this look, you need long hair to work with. Trim bangs near the front of the face to frame the facial features; the bangs can be straight cut just above the brow line or longer to hang down to the earline on either side of the face. Pull the body of the hair back--leaving the bangs to frame the face--into a tight ponytail. Twist the length of the ponytail and wrap it around the hair tie, fastening it with a second hair tie. To smooth the hair in the bun, use a small amount of medium-hold mousse and smooth the hair with your fingers.

Being over 50 means you've probably developed your own style, or at least know what works for you and what doesn't. Choosing a new hairstyle for a new time of life doesn't mean giving in to age, it just means taking a few steps to make sure it works.
Instructions
1. Think about the age issue, and decide how you feel about it. You have your own feelings about being over 50, but style attitudes have changed a great deal. Good over-50 style is not necessarily "anything goes," but a lot more goes than it used to.
2. Examine your lifestyle. Work, social obligations and the time to fuss with hair are important factors. You must get your hair out of the way for recreation such as tennis, golf, skiing and workouts.
3. Look at celebrity hairstyles of those who are over 50. They often have the best professional advice, so look for celebrities with similar facial features to your own whose hairstyles you admire. Some websites let you to upload your own picture and "try on" hairstyles.
4. Check out several different hairstyles, and choose a few you like. Add these to the celebrity choices, and make a gallery of ideas.
5. Ask for professional advice. Tell your stylist to be honest. See if any from your gallery of hairstyle choices works on your face, with your hair type and color. Most stylists try to steer you away from bad decisions.
6. Keep it real. Have confidence in your own style.
Keep all your daughter's hair bows in a central location.
Houses with little girls living in them often have hair bows all over the place. Help corral them by making a hair bow holder. There are so many different ways to make them; you may already have the supplies needed at your house. Most use ribbon in different lengths and widths; you can make the hair bow holder match the decor in your home. Not only is it practical, it can be pretty as well.
Chicken Wire Hair Bow Holder
Chicken wire may not sound cute or attractive, but it virtually disappears into a decorative background. Staple a large piece of chicken wire inside a large frame. Cover the frame backing with decorative fabric and pop it into the frame. The chicken wire should be on top. Clip your hair bows onto the different strands and holes in the chicken wire. You won't see the wires once the bows are all in place. This hair bow holder can be put in a bathroom or bedroom.
Picture Frame Hair Bow Holder
This picture frame holder is very similar to the chicken wire hair bow holder, only it uses ribbon instead of chicken wire. If you can't find a large enough picture frame, use a large mirror frame. You can take out the mirror or leave it in place. Staple or hot glue ribbon to the back edge of the frame. Let the ribbon hang down over the opening and glue or staple it on the bottom. Clip the hair bows onto the ribbon. Use different patterns and widths of ribbon to make it bright and colorful.
Ribbon Strip Hair Bow Holder
This is a very simply hair bow holder that holds only a few hair bows. It is a good one to make if you have a very young child with a couple hair bows; you can always make more as her collection of bows grows. Purchase a small wooden shape at the craft store and paint it in colors you like. Cut a 4-inch piece of ribbon and make it into a loop; glue it to the top of the shape in the back. Cut another strip of ribbon; this can be anywhere from 2 to 4 feet. The length really depends on how much room you have in the space you are putting the holder. Glue the strip to the back of the wooden shape, as well. Hang it up and clip your bows onto the long ribbon.
Art Canvas Hair Bow Holder
This hair bow holder uses ribbons of different colors and widths, as well. Instead of a frame, it uses a piece of art canvas. You can purchase the canvas at art supply stores or craft stores. Glue the ribbon on the back at the top of the canvas; let the ribbon fall down the front of the canvas and glue it on the bottom in the back.
Magnetic Hair Bow Holder
Purchase a large sheet of metal at the hardware store. You can often have it cut to the size you want. Put strong magnets all over the metal board. The metal hair bow clips will stick to the magnets, holding them up. This hair bow holder will not work if you have plastic clips on the bows. Dress up the metal sheet with stickers or paint.
Covered Cork Board Hair Bow Holder
Purchase a piece of cork board from the craft store. You can also use a piece of wood, but it will be much heavier. Cover the board with a decorative piece of fabric; staple it tight against the board. Attach a few ribbons to the board in a decorative manner; they do not all have to go up and down as in the other holders. The ribbons can go horizontally, vertically or even diagonally.
Kinky hair needs a good cut whether the hair is being worn naturally kinky or is straightened with relaxing chemicals. A cut for kinky hair should be sheared in such a way that it looks good when you wash it and go, or when you wash, set, blow dry and then hot curl it into a finished style. Ideally, hair should be more than just cut. It should be sheared into a particular hairstyle. There are a number of hairstyles that look fabulous on kinky hair, with a minimum of care.
Bob Cut
A good cut for kinky hair--either short or shoulder length--is a bob cut. A bob, with its squared-off ends, offers a lot of versatility for styling, making the wearer ready for a closeup with a tousled, natural look or a sculpted hairdo courtesy of a blow dryer and hot curlers. Cut with a closely cropped, tapered nape, a kinky hair bob's natural look makes it even more easy to wash and go.
When worn longer, at shoulder length, the kinky cut bob is truly versatile. Hair can be worn natural or braided. When straightened, the kinky bob cut can be styled in so many styles, including up-swept hairdos like a French roll and combed down and under styles in a page boy or a modern flip.
Buzz Cut
The buzz cut is a hair cut that works for kinky hair. A buzz cut is a simple sheared hairdo with hair tapered super-close at the nape of the neck with no more than 4 inches in length at the crown. The longer the crown hair, the more versatility there is when styling. Buzz cuts can be worn natural in a small Afro look or straightened and spiked using mousse and gels in a post-modern grunge look. Pop singer Rihanna's buzz cut is a thing of beauty and her many straight hairstyles demonstrate the versatility of a buzz cut when worn straight.
Getting a good cut is key for women desiring a buzz cut. Refrain from sitting in a barber's chair to get one. A hairstylist rather than a barber will bring more skill and attention to ensuring that the finished buzz cut is a feminine one that flatters a female wearer's face.
Health Cut
Every head with kinky hair needs a good maintenance cut to keep the hair healthy. Kinky hair is prone to dry ends that can split and become damaged. Ideally, this cut or deep trim should be done at the time of the full moon, usually the beginning of the month, to help with re-growth.
